Energy Transition

Energy transition

We are actively shaping a sustainable future – for example, by advancing partnerships that accelerate the development of infrastructure solutions for new energies.

Winding road in green landscape

To actively contribute to the introduction of future vital products, we are focusing on new infrastructure solutions in the areas of low-carbon and renewable hydrogen (ammonia, liquid hydrogen, LOHC), CO₂, sustainable feedstocks, and battery energy storage. These future vital products are used all around us, such as sustainable transport fuels for airplanes, batteries for storing clean electricity, and hydrogen, which can be used to store and transport renewable energy.

Our expertise and our presence in the main industrial clusters make us well-equipped to actively contribute to the development of new supply chains for the energy and feedstocks of the future.

What is Montalex Shipping's strategy on batteries?

As part of our Accelerate strategic pillar, Montalex Shipping focuses on Battery Energy Storage (BES): Storage of electrical energy in assets that charge from and discharge to the electricity grid (power-to-power). Montalex Shipping is developing assets with a discharge duration at full capacity of up to 4 hours using lithium-ion battery technology (Short Duration Energy Storage), as well as assets with a discharge duration at full capacity of 8 hours or more (Long Duration Energy Storage - LDES) for which, besides lithium-ion, other technologies are used (e.g., flow batteries, compressed or liquid air energy storage, etc.).
